Lost & Found Rehomed
Lost & Found Rehomed is a Burbank Eco Council program that turns unclaimed lost & found clothing from BUSD schools into free back-to-school clothes for Burbank families. Between late May and early June, volunteer crews collected and delivered bags of clothing from participating campuses to Sparkle Laundry, who washed, sorted, and tracked all the items. Volunteers then delivered to Burbank Central Library for summer storage.
Now we are giving this clothing away FREE at a community distribution event on Saturday, August 8. No applications, no paperwork, just families picking out clothes that fit their kids.
Come "shop" for FREE!

Why This Project Exists
Every school year in Burbank ends the same way. Bins of unclaimed jackets, sweatshirts, lunch bags, and t-shirts pile up at every BUSD campus. Most of it is in good condition. Most of it gets thrown away.
The Bigger Picture: Circular Economy
The clothing industry is one of the most wasteful systems on the planet. In the US alone, more than 11 million tons of textiles end up in landfills every year. Most of those clothes were worn fewer than ten times.
The circular economy is a different way of thinking. Instead of the straight line of buy → use briefly → throw away, it creates loops. Clothes circulate. They get worn by one kid, outgrown, passed along, worn by another kid. Resources stay in use. Less goes to the landfill. Less new stuff needs to be made.
Lost & Found Rehomed is a tiny, hyper-local version of that loop. The clothes never leave the community. The system already exists; we're just connecting the ends.
